Though Hop Along's incredible new album Bark Your Head Off, Dog is some of the best music released this year, you wouldn't typically think of it as something you could conceivably groove to (even though the album's nearly yacht-rock in its subtle funkiness). The Philadelphia rockers would like to use this opportunity to tell you that you're wrong if you think this, and that you absolutely can wild out to songs about the anxiety of aging in their absurdly fun new clip for album opener "How Simple."
The video, directed by Derrick Belcham, follows Hop Along leader Frances Quinlan as she shimmies with abandon through a spotlit house, only pausing to do two very important things, both of which are huge moods. 1) She switches her flannel shirt for another, identical flannel shirt, and 2) calmly eats a bowl of cereal. Relatable for owners of interchangeable clothing items and those who require that their breakfast schedule not be interrupted even in the middle of a complex dance routine (it me). This is also the first time that Hop Along themselves have appeared in one of their music videos. Watch the "How Simple" video above and embrace joy.
