Have you ever found some kind of tape or video you shouldn't have picked up? Maybe you were at your friend's house when you were a kid, and there's an unmarked recorded VHS, on their shelf. You put it in, and suddenly you're in some weird scene in a distant place, maybe a cornfield or a desert. You wonder what the fuck is going to happen, the excitement boils up until your buddy busts in and makes you turn it off. That's sort of what it's like watching Taxidermists' new video for "Be 1."
Taxidermists is a duo from Massachusetts that play super gritty and dirty rock music. Their new record Honesty Box is a testament to this, getting fucked up and weird in every kind of way. Their new video for "Be 1" is what you'd want out of a visual representation of their music. The two members of the band wander around a cornfield, hiding, stalking and wandering. It's incredible what kinds of noises and textures are constructed from the duo; the band expelling sludgey and crunchy influences everywhere. The whole presentation feels like picking up an unlabeled VHS tape at a friend's house. It's super strange, but all the more engaging.
