Pollyn’s video for “Dark Tokyo” is a weird cartoon, with amazing art, about falling in love and becoming so close to another person you begin to feel as if you’re both one and the same.
The LA trio—consisting of vocalist Genevieve Artadi, guitarist Anthony Cava, and beat maker/percussionist Adam Jay Weissman—have been making music since 2009, and are one of the few bands who have mixed synth-pop, funk, and indie successfully, adapting and updating their sound to evolve throughout the years, which is probably why they’re still around.
Today, we’re premiering their video for “Dark Tokyo,” off their third album Distress Signals, out May 13. Inspired by science fiction staples such as Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skin and Akira, the video tells the story of two people, one man and one woman, who fall in love (or, more aptly, lust) and quickly begin to devour each other the way love makes you do. I won’t spoil the ending for you, but it doesn’t end well. Check it out below.
