A Tribe Called Quest rapper Phife Dawg's death has rocked the world since news of it broke early this morning. It's never easy to know how to begin to process this kind of loss for music, let alone how to honor someone whose art moved so many people, but tributes have been pouring in.
One of these was on Atlanta's WSB TV's Action News broadcast this morning, which delivered its traffic updates by quoting Phife's lyrics, drawing on surprisingly relevant phrases like "ludicrously speedy or infectious with the slow-mo" from "Award Tour." We don't hear too much from traffic correspondent Mark McKay, but we do know, courtesy of host Mark Arum, that his track record, like Phife's is "longer than a DC-20 aircraft." Watch the full video, posted by the station's Erin Coleman on Facebook, and the video for A Tribe Called Quest's "Award Tour" below and see how many references you can catch. RIP Phife.
Now that's how you honor Phife Dawg of Tribe Called Quest during a morning traffic report. Mark Arum WSB "Lyrically he's Mario Andretti on the mo mo." #RIPPhifeDawg http://2wsb.tv/1ZsYkMV
