While Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern may be known for making nonsense lyrics, their taste in fashion makes total sense. The duo, known as SOFI TUKKER, loves to look good but keep it low-key. Sophie and Tucker met at Brown University and moved to New York in 2014, where they started making music. Thus far the band has on single out called “Drinkee,” which blends funky techno beats with made up Portuguese lyrics. Their love for mixing things up fuses into their style. Together, SOFI TUKKER love fancy French jackets, long tanks and comfy (and trendy) sneakers. Living in New York, the band is no stranger to the high fashion world, and they dished on what items they can’t live without.
NEW BALANCE SNEAKERS
Sophie: Very pleased to have an occasion to gush about my New Balance sneakers. New Balance make the most comfortable sneakers and these white walking sneakers make me feel fresh af, even though my friends call them my old-lady shoes. I was in a wheelchair for four months this winter because I broke my toes (too much dancing causes stress fractures)! Now that I am on my feet again, I gotta keep them happy.
FASHIONABLE JACKETS
Sophie: Tucker in his Simon Miller jacket, as usual. I am wearing Tucker’s undersized Sandro jacket, which is oversized on me.
Tucker: The French make their clothes pretty small, and I’m a tall dude so it broke my heart after I got the Sandro studded leather jacket and realized that it looked better on Sophie. I’m still bitter. I still try to squeeze into it every now and then.
LONG TANKS
Sophie and Tucker: If we had our way, we'd only wear homemade long tanks.This is why we have issues with the winter. We are spending most of the winter in Miami or on tour, so we’re trying to keep the dream alive! Tucker is a 6’7’’ ex-basketball player, so the tall slim fit is very key.
MUSIC MERCH
Sophie: The HeavyRoc t-shirt and The Knocks baseball cap are a pretty standard uniform of mine: repping the fam. Sometimes I forget to wear clothes, and then we are working in the studio and I get cold, so I have accumulated quite a lot of Knocks and HeavyRoc paraphernalia (thanks guys)! Also good looks to Axel Audio: we just got these headphones, and they double as my earmuffs. Gracias!
